Job Description

Job title: Dispatcher

Business Unit: Europcar

Reports to: Regional Fleet Manager 

Based at/in: Windhoek Depot

Position overall objective: The purpose of the position is to dispatch the correct vehicles from the depot to the relevant rental location timeously and in accordance with customer reservation or other business requirements. The incumbent of the position must also be able to resolve or escalate issues in the absence of the Depot Manager and/or Fleet Manager.

Minimum Experience

• 1 years of car rental, logistics or fleet management experience

 

Minimum Qualification

• Grade 12/ Senior Certificate

 

Minimum Requirements

• Valid unendorsed driver’s license

• Computer Literate (proficiency required in Excel & Outlook)

 

Essential to note: The appointed person will be required to work day/night shifts.

 

Job Outputs

• Dispatch correct vehicle groups to rental locations timeously.

• Liaise with the Airport on an hourly basis to assess increases in reservations/ changes in vehicle requirements.

• Allocate vehicles according to reservations, special requests and Platinum Class customer reservations.

• Manage and improve effective and efficient vehicle turnaround.

• Ensure that company assets and resources are safeguarded at all times.

• Supervise the day-to-day vehicle operation/flow of the depot.

• Conduct daily vehicle count and fleet plan as required.

• Spot check depot staff and outsource personnel for uniform and ID tags, addressing non-compliance and reporting repeat offenders to management.

• Manage fuel arrival/delivery in accordance with standard operating procedures.

• Daily fuel dips and readings.

• General office administration.

• Check cleanliness, maintenance and safety in all areas of the depot including change rooms and toilet areas.

• Ensure that all health and safety policies/procedures/requirements are adhered to.

• Responsible for the management of direct report employees.

• Manage staff rosters if needed, and notify of absenteeism issues.

• Contribute to trading profit target through the control of costs and efficient resource planning and utilization.

• Assist management with reporting as required.
